A former Apple lawyer pleads guilty to insider trading

WASHINGTON is a former chief corporate lawyer Apple On Thursday, he pleaded guilty to insider trading, admitting he used access to undisclosed company revenue results to obtain hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal profits, prosecutors said.

Gene Daniel Lewaff served as Apple’s corporate secretary, and that role included managing the company’s compliance efforts to avoid insider trading employees. Mr Lewaff was also co-chair of Apple’s disclosure committee, which reviewed and discussed quarterly and annual earnings reports that had not yet been released, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Jersey, which conducted the case.
