A female soldier stationed in Fort Bragg was charged with murder by shooting another soldier, according to North Carolina police.

Fayetteville police announced the arrest of 26-year-old Tiara Nicole Binson on Saturday.

Binson was charged with the death of 22-year-old Kelia Houghton. Police said he was shot dead outside his home in Fayetteville on Friday afternoon.

It is unknown what triggered the firing. Authorities also did not reveal the nature of the relationship between the two women.

Upon arrival, police officers found an adult woman shot outside the dwelling.

Authorities said they had taken life-saving measures until the corresponding police officer was transferred to a local hospital due to an injury.

The victim succumbed to her injury and was sentenced to death in the hospital.

Police Sergeant Jeremy Glass said details about the shooting were not immediately available.

According to police, Vinson, who was charged with one murder and shooting into the occupied territories, was detained in Cumberland County Jail.

“This is a tragic and meaningless loss, especially for those here who know Kelia,” Buccino told the newspaper.

“The commander of the 525 Military Intelligence Brigade organizes grief counseling for fellow Kelia soldiers and engages with their families,” he added.
