Jimmy Kimmel takes a jab at Tucker Carlson over Capitol riot footage at the Oscars

oscar host Jimmy Kimmel couldn’t miss the chance January 6 reference to fox newsTucker Carlson after being presented with the Film Editing Award at a ceremony on Sunday night.

“Anyone who has ever received a text message from their father knows how important editing is,” he began. You can turn footage of violent riots into a respectful sightseeing tour of The Beyond. Houses of Parliament“Their work is underrated,” said Kimmel.

It was clearly a reference to Carlson, even though Kimmel didn’t even mention his name.

This comment caused a great deal of laughter from the Dolby Theater audience.

It was referring to Carlson being given the footage last week so he could begin a new effort to explain the deadly attack on the Capitol.

Carlson linked the Republican Party more closely than ever to pro-Trump conspiracy theories about the 2021 riots, describing the riots as “peaceful.”

Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel referred to the January 6th Capitol riots when presenting the film editing award.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy handed over more than 40,000 hours of surveillance footage from the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, and Carlson said Trump supporters who broke into Congress were in fact “orderly, Friendly tourists.

Since the footage was pieced together, there has been a ferocious response from both Democrats and Republicans, as well as Capitol Police.

“The opinion program aired offensive and misleading conclusion-filled comments about the January 6 attacks,” Army Secretary Tom Munger wrote in an internal memo shortly after the show aired.

“This program is conveniently handpicked from 41,000 hours of calm moments of video. can not.

On Monday night, Tucker Carlson released footage inside the Capitol on January 6th. It includes a clip of “QAnon Sherman” Jacob Chansley (above) being “escorted” through a building.

Footage shown at Carlson’s show last Monday night apparently saw so-called QAnon shaman Jacob Chansley being escorted to the Senate by Capitol police officers.

Carlson disputed the popular theory that Chansley, who spent four years in prison for the incident, actively broke into the room.

Also aired was footage of Capitol officer Brian Schicknick, who died shortly after the riot.

Initially, it was suggested that Sicknick’s death came as a result of being attacked with fire extinguishers and pepper spray by a mob.

However, a coroner later determined he died of natural causes. And Carlson shared footage of Schicknick walking through the Capitol after the attack.

Although he appeared healthy, the Fox News host said he had thrown cold water on liberal press claims that the Capitol mob had Sicknick’s blood on their hands.

He was also seen urging Ray Epps to storm the Capitol, but was never charged, raising suspicions that Epps was in fact an informant. Epps denied working for the government.

On Monday, Carlson suggested Epps was lying.

“They were orderly and meek,” Carlson said of those who stormed the Capitol. These were not riotists. they were tourists.

Carlson noted that they “clearly adore the Capitol,” taking selfies and “standing in neat little lines.”

“Fatal rebellion. Everything about that phrase is a lie,” he said.

“There was little organized or violent about January 6. Surveillance video from inside the Capitol shows mostly peaceful chaos.

Carlson pointed to footage showing the “QAnon Shaman” (Jacob Chansley shirtless and wearing a Viking helmet) inside the Capitol.

A 33-year-old Navy veteran from Arizona, Chansley was one of the most famous people to walk into the Capitol on January 6th.

He has been in prison for almost four years for “obstructing official proceedings.”

In the footage, Chansley is seen wandering around the Capitol, being guided by officials.

He passes a line of riot police, but the police make no move to stop him.

They then take him to various entrances to rooms that appear to be locked, eventually finding a door he has opened, through which he has disappeared.

“Nearly every moment of his time inside the Capitol was captured on tape,” Carlson said.

“The tapes show that the Capitol Police never stopped Jacob Chansley. They helped him. They acted as his tour guides.”

Carlson also showed the moments after Officer Brian Schicknick faced the mob.

Sicknick, 42, died on January 7, the day after the riots.

Capitol riot leader Julian Cater (pictured left) played a role in the pepper spray attack on police officer Brian Schicknick (pictured right), who died the day after the Jan. 6, 2021 riots was sentenced to 80 months in prison.

In April 2021, a DC coroner determined that Sicknick, who was injured during a confrontation with a mob, suffered a stroke and died of natural causes.

“To this day, the media portrays Sicknick as someone who was ‘killed’ on January 6,” Carlson said.

“The video we reviewed proves that to be a lie.”

Carlson said the officer was “healthy and fine” and was wearing a helmet.

“So it’s unlikely that he died of a head injury,” he said.

“It is clear that whatever happened to Brian Schicknick was not the result of the violence he was subjected to at the entrance to the Capitol.

“This tape debunks the most powerful and politically beneficial lie the Democrats told us on January 6th.”

There have been multiple deaths linked to the riots, including four Trump supporters, one of whom, Ashley Babbitt, was shot dead by Capitol Police.
